Welcome Croeso

Welcome to Ponthir Church in Wales School.

Croeso i Ysgol Eglwys Ponthir.

Are you looking for something a little bit different? We are a small church school in an idyllic village location. We are part of the Croesyceiliog cluster and have good links with Croesyceiliog Secondary School, Caerleon Secondary School and Saint Alban's Roman Catholic High School.

As a small school, we are able to provide our pupils with unique opportunities and experiences, including our exciting sporting curriculum. All of our older pupils hold leadership roles within the school, ensuring that they are fully-prepared to thrive in the secondary school environment. We are an international languages regional lead school and our children enjoy learning French, Spanish, German and even a smattering of Japanese! Class music projects are provided for all year groups by Up Beat and children also have the option to access private music lessons with Gwent Music.

The school is arranged into four classes. This allows our children to work with children of different ages and contributes to the strong progress made by all learners. It develops our children's confidence in social and formal situations, creating a happy, friendly and fun environment for learning.

We have excellent digital resources and unlimited access to the sporting facilities at Ponthir Sports and Social Club.

At Ponthir we have created the Aspire Curriculum.

A – Aspiration

S – Spirituality

P – Peace

I – Independence

R – Respect

E – Endurance

We want to be a school where pupils aspire to achieve their dreams, develop spiritually, act as peacemakers, develop independence, respect one another, and endure through every challenge as we care, learn and grow together.

We are a busy but friendly school, with lots going on. This website aims to give you a taster of the school, as well as providing up to date information for parents, pupils and the wider community. We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website, and that you find the information you are looking for. Please feel free to contact the school direct with any queries you may have. We welcome visits to our school and love showing people the wonderful teaching and learning that takes place.

My name is Miss O'Mahony and I am privileged to be the Headteacher at Ponthir Church in Wales School. I am part of a fantastic school community where we all work together to secure the very best education for all our pupils.

We have dedicated staff, interested families, committed governors, a supportive church and the most amazing pupils.
