Introducing Autumn 1 topic: What makes us who we are?
Over the next term pupils will be learning all about what makes them who they are. For the first two weeks we are looking at ourselves. This will include how we keep ourselves healthy, what is important to us and how we are similar and different to others.
We will explore our families. We will be discussing who is in our family, different types of families and how God helps us all.
Within the last two weeks we will be learning about our community and Wales. Our learning will include what jobs people do and exploring the around environment around our school.
The Colour Monster
During the Autumn term we have been reading the story book 'The Colour Monster'. The children have been learning about their feelings and emotions, using the different colour jars. We have created our own emotion board where the children can discuss how they are feeling when they come into school.
Our Spring Term topic is 'Time Travellers' and we are travelling back to the 1960s.
We started our topic with an immersion day with all of the pupils dressed in historical costumes. We had some amazing efforts and a fantastic day involving all sorts of activities around our new topic. These included learning 'The Twist' dance, discovering 1960s cartoons and creating art from the era. What a way to start the new year!
Over the next few weeks the pupils will have the opportunity to take on lots of different roles from this period in time. The children will be Interior Designers, Pop Artists and Fashion Designers. We can't wait to see what they come up with!
